Mr Lee Kuan Yew wanted Oxley Road home demolished as stated in will

Two children of Singapore’s first prime minister Lee Kuan Yew have issued a statement reaffirming his wishes that his home on Oxley Road be demolished after his death.

I personally feel that they should turn Mr Lee's house into a museum to exhibit his life contribution to Singapore. Not everyone will get the chance to pay tribute to Mr Lee and know about what Mr Lee had done for Singapore. I really hope it will be a place to remember. However, in his will he want his house to be demolished after his death.

Worker dies after fall from height at Sims Dr construction site

An SCDF spokesperson said that one worker died after falling from height at construction site at 60 Sims Drive. Meiru saw the worker lying motionless at the foot of a construction site beside Geylang Methodist school today (Aug 14).

I felt that safety always comes first before anything. I think the supervisors should check everything before the workers start working for the day. They come so far from overseas to work and earn money for family and hope everything will be safe, of course individual must take care of themselves on duty too.

Passenger injured after jumping out of taxi when cabby drives off
before he can alight at Boon Lay

Angie’s friend’s foot was nearly run over by a taxi driver at Tradehub in Boon Lay two days ago (Mar 4) at around 1.45pm.

This is just the same case as the previous issue that i was addressing. I really don't understanding why are we having this kind of people around. It's too inconsiderate. I hope we human will have the care and kindness towards each other.

Elderly woman whose foot was crushed by bus: I would rather die than never walk again
Madam Ting had boarded SMRT bus service 913 to go to the market on Friday afternoon, said her son-in-law, Mr Alex Lee. The 57-year-old construction company director said she had alighted from the rear exit of the bus at a bus stop on Woodlands Centre Road. The moment she placed her left foot on the ground, the bus suddenly moved off and she fell.

I think that our Singapore Drivers must be more careful when they are on duty. This is not the first time I read about this news. I also have family member that experience this kind of accident. It not only affect the victim and it also affect the her family members.

What's he trying to do? Driver brakes repeatedly along Simei Ave
Kait was annoyed to be behind this driver, who braked unnecessarily along Simei Avenue on Friday (Apr 10).

I felt that this inconsiderate driver should be warned. What if accident happen due to his unnecessarily braked while driving. He should think of others that's sharing the road path together and not only for himself.

Driver hits gantry at Jurong carpark and quickly drives away
The person that was irked when he saw a truck driver hitting the gantry at a carpark in Jurong then driving away without doing anything.

I felt that action should be taken immediately when this things happen, the guys should have report this to the police and let the police further investigate. This action by the trunk driver is purely showing irresponsibly.

Youths risk dangerous plunge by using construction crane to get 'perfect shot'
Shawn was shocked to see photos of youths walking on the tip and hanging from construction cranes in Singapore.

Is photos was posted on Facebook and it has been circulating around.
I felt that they are daring and didn't know what are they doing. Maybe they are on drugs or something. It may be due to influences of friend.

Bicycle bay at Serangoon block's void deck becomes trolley bay: Some are even chained with bicycle locks

Angel was amused at the sight of trolleys 'parked' at the bicycle bay at the void deck of Serangoon block 417. Multiple trolleys were parked next to the single bicycle there.

I felt that the person that did this is not even considerate at all. Firstly, taking trolley from different outlets and not returning it after used. Secondly, parking it at the bicycle bay where taking up the space for other resident to park their bicycle after used. Action should be taken against those people that did this.

Are such large trucks allowed to park at HDB carparks?

Alvin thought it was dangerous to park such a large truck at an HDB's carpark. He said: "How can a trailer head park at normal car parking lot? The whole of the back was on top of the grass patch. "No enforcement officers gave a ticket to this trailer."

Indeed! I felt that the government should look into this matter. It's not only dangerous parking in HDB carpark and the back of the trailer was on top of the grass. HDB carparks are so small and having a trailer turning into the carpark it's already a not acceptable thing. No one will know what is around and it make just knock into someone.

NEA takes action against diner who put pet dog on table at West Coast hawker centre after Stomp report
NEA has taken action against a pet owner who brought his pet dog and placed it on a table at West Coast hawker centre in March. Two diners fight over the dog being on the table.

I felt that in the first place the owner of the pet dog shouldn't even bring the dog into the hawker centre. If he need to do that he should sit somewhere outside the hawker centre so it won't be a distraction to the other diner in the hawker centre. It's due to hygiene purpose of the hawker centre that's why there's a reason and rule of not allowing pets in food centre.

China's fake accident scam in S'pore?
Adrian, the driver slowed his car down for an elderly man standing in the middle of the road yesterday 8 April 2015, and was shocked to see the latter fling himself onto his bonnet.

I felt that he's a bit to crazy, wanting to follow the incident that happen in China to scam people insurance money. Maybe he got nothing better to do and just give it a try. Seriously a stupid to do and it may affect other driver on the road and it may cause real accident.

Teenager Faces Charges After Mocking Singapore’s Founding Father on YouTube

Police confirmed that teenage video blogger Amos Yee, was arrested a day earlier for an obscenity-laced tirade posted on YouTube that celebrated the death of Lee Kuan Yew, the country’s founding father, and disparaged Christians.

I felt that he very smart and talented. He produced his own video and post it on youtube during his younger days. He even acted in a Jack Neo film "I'm Not Stupid". I think his parents should talk to him more often and telling him what is right and wrong. Whatever is done can't be undone, so he just have to face and it accept what treatment the government decide to give him. I feel that he may be still young and he should have another chance to repay his mistake.

Proper places to burn joss paperexist, but resident still
A boy nearly stepped into this pile of ashes near his home in Bedok. He feels that burning joss paper on the ground instead of at designated places counts as vandalism.

From a Chinese point of view, I felt that as human we must make Singapore or our area clean at all times. The government had provided people that need to burn joss paper in the furnace. In one way or another it may be counts as vandalism if they burn joss paper on the floor, however I think they should be just pay an amount that government fine them.

Pantang' cabbies refuse to take man at Jurong Point taxi stand to cemetery
The guy was in the queue at the Jurong Point taxi stand when three cabbies refused to take him to the cemetery between 11.40am to 11.55am.

Who changes shift at 10.30am in the morning?

I can totally feel what this guy coming from. Sometimes when I'm in a rush to somewhere and I have to take a cab this is what happen. The taxi driver will tend to reject the location that I'm heading to. 1st reason: Not the way that they are heading to. 2nd reason: Sorry changing shift.

In my mind, I will indirectly curse and swear at them. Taxi driver are complaining it's so hard to earn money out of driving nowadays. I felt that it's bullshit. We are here wanting to flat a cab and no one want to fetch due to location and lying of changing shift.

Girl bounces up and down on BF's lap -- on the MRT
This girl was seen sitting on her boyfriend and rocking in his lap, as if he was a rocking chair.

Why do people want to do this in the public? What will they gain from this? I felt that they are just trying to grab attention from the public. After reading and looking at this article, I feel very annoyed by this. Is there really need to do this? Anyway, we are not sure of what they are thinking in mind but it's not the right thing to do at this age.

More lower-income students can apply for Edusave Merit Bursary
More good-performing students from lower-income families will be eligible to apply for the Edusave Merit Bursary when the Education Ministry (MOE) expands its income criterion.

I have being questioning myself about this always. Why do the government want to award student with only the low income group with this Bursary? Isn't this award eligible for all student that work hard for their studies regardless of high or low income families? We study hard and work hard for our own good and not the family. I'm not against or anything for giving this award to the lower income, however I think all student will be eligible for the award as long the student work hard and perform well in their studies.

More young people in S'pore surprisingly turning to cleaning jobs
The Republic Polytechnic (RP) student, 21, Karen Ng is used to the doubting faces, having seen them as a Primary 3 pupil helping her mother with her job as a part-time cleaner at a student centre. Years on, the freelance cleaner still sees that same look. The job typically pays about $16 an hour, almost double the wages of service jobs at food and beverage outlets.
Most of them are attracted by the hours rate that was given.

In my opinion, most of the time when we ask Singaporean would you even become a house cleaner? Most answer will be of course "No". 95% of the house cleaners are from Indonesia, Philippines. In Singapore, if you are just working for the pay, this freelance job may take into consideration. Since it's about $16 an hour job, so why not?

A*Star scholarship holder expelled from Stanford after poisoning lab mates
A*Star scholarship holder Ouyang Xiangyu, 26, has been kicked out of Stanford University after being charged with four counts of poisoning her lab mates.

From what I read from this issue, she's always seemed like a quiet, gentle and pleasant girl who seemed to want to make friends. I liked her. She didn't know what's she doing. I felt that in life, not everyone is perfect. We do make mistake sometimes, for example for this issue, even an A*Star scholarship holder can make a big mistake and being expelled from uni. It may be just so unlucky or fated. Of course this affect herself, family and her lab mates that was innocent.

9-year-old boy physically abused by adoptive parents with water pipes, branches and pens
At the age of 6 he was legally adopted by his father in Nanjing and The abusive conduct was found out by the boy's teachers last year, but at the time the teachers thought it might have been an accident, so it didn't get publicised. Recently one of the boy's teachers discovered a fresh set of scars all over his body and noticed that he is scared of being around crowds of people. The school have tried to get to the bottom of the abuse but to no avail, so are now appealing for netizens to help.

I felt that the parents of this poor boy shouldn't even do this to him. We don't know what's the story behind this, as a parent or step-parents this shouldn't happen to any of the children. If there's a need to rant the anger, it can always be done in another way. Children have a life too, they are not there to be scolded, beat or whatever that hurt them. From my opinion it affect not only the child life, it affect the people around him too.

A man doing something suspicious with his hands in his shorts on board an MRT train yesterday (Apr 6) around 6.30pm. The person that posted this guessed he was masturbating and he looked quite engrossed at that moment with his mouth left ajar and eyes staring into space.

I really felt that this guy that was featured in this video shouldn't even do this in the public, even tho no one know what he is trying to do with his hand in his pants. As a form of act like that if he don't feel disgrace about it, as a general public people that's sensitive will feel uncomfortable.

Speaking to Class 95FM's Muttons deejays, Clare, who uploaded a viral video of a passenger being rude to her father, says leaking the man's details online might affect his family. The daughter of a taxi driver, whose run-in with a verbally abusive passenger has gone viral on Facebook, has called for a measured response.

I think what she had done was totally right. The taxi uncle is just driving to earn his income to support his family and he is not anyone private driver that one can shout and command him. Everyone has a father, who wants others to treat our father this way.

Alternative Study Routes

Students who have done well for their 'A'-Levels would naturally head to university for the next phase of their academic life. But there are some who join the polytechnics to pursue their dreams. For physiotherapist Cheng Guang Hao, work has never been a pain. He could have studied engineering in university, but chose a course that could shape a person's health instead.

And where pay is concerned, he commented: “As long as you are really passionate about what you are doing and you really like it, it does not matter."
I felt that it's true with what he has shared. We need to do what we really want in life and do what we love, love what we do. Don't allow things around you to distract you from what you love to do. Yes, as long as you are passionate about what you do, earning money out from it is not the issue.
